Mt. Rushmore

Yesterday we visited Sturgis (about 25 miles North off I-90) where the 4th Annual Motorcycle Rally kicks off Aug.4th-10th. Lots of bikers have been here since we arrived at the KOA in Rapid City Sunday.

"Sturgis® Motorcycle Rally is one of the largest bike rallies in the United States. The Rally includes concerts, races, bike shows, exhibits, organized rides, and a full schedule of entertainment."

Late yesterday we stopped at the Crazy Horse memorial (about 35 miles South) and then went to visit the Mt. Rushmore National Monument near Keystone SD. Our first time here and if you have a chance don't miss it.

Stayed for the 45 min. lighting presentation by a Park Ranger that started at 9pm...very informative and there were people in the outdoor theater from every region of the USA and many from out of Country...packed!!

"Mount Rushmore National Memorial is visited by nearly three million people each year that come to marvel at the majestic beauty of the Black Hills of South Dakota and learn about the birth, growth, development and preservation of the country. From the history of the first inhabitants to the diversity of America today, Mount Rushmore brings visitors face to face with the rich heritage we all share."

Hope you enjoy the photos.

Tomorrow (Wednesday) we leave the area and continue our journey to the Oregon coast.
