Casa Grande, AZ

Arrived at our winter park, Casa Grande RV Resort, early afternoon. Weather is gorgeous with temps in the mid 70's and sunny.

Monday's dinner was pizza at Barro's which we were looking forward to since we left last April.

All settled in and got to visit with some friends from previous years. Thanksgiving dinner is on for Thursday in the clubhouse and there are over 100 people signed up. Resort is providing the turkey's and gravy with folks bringing the other trimmings...ours will be the salad. 8 people per table.

We wish everyone a Happy Holiday season and travel safe if on the road.

January 2nd, 2016 update

Happy New Year all!!

Added a few pics from our Xmas dinner in the rig and the New Years eve get together in the Clubhouse.

Christmas Dinner;

Picked up a very good looking bone in Prime Rib at the butcher shop (that would be Fry's here in Casa Grande).

The rest: Baked potatoes butter/sour cream, cranberry sauce, green bean casserole and some kind of pie. There is just 2 of us so that was enough.

Did I mention a good bottle of wine?

New Years eve Dinner in the Clubhouse...steak and chicken (they served everyone both) and the things that go with it. About 112 signed up and showed up. DJ for music. Sat at a table with close friends.

Took a bottle of wine for refreshments.

Started serving at 7pm and we were back in the rig about 9:30pm...we aren't the big party animals that we use to be. Good time when we were there socializing.

Watched the NY feed and then snoring.

Needles, CA

Arrived at the Elks Lodge #1608 here mid afternoon. Not much to do in Needles but the Lodge was nice and we had full hook-ups for the rig.

Jeff the bartender at the Lodge recommended a Mexican restaurant which was very good.

Was going to be another overnight but decided to stay until Monday to watch the football games on Sunday. Well worth it as we got to see the Packers beat up on the Vikings.

Bakersfield, CA

A must stop for us when we come this way to Casa Grande is the Orange Grove RV Park and you'll see why in the photos.

Trees are loaded and we got our usual bag to take along.

Another overnight and then it's on to Needles, CA. tomorrow.

Woodbridge, CA

Beautiful day for going over the hill on I-80 for about a 3 hour drive to Woodbridge near Lodi, CA.

De-winterized the rig and got things in order for our journey to Casa Grande. Stayed at an Elks Lodge #1900 for this overnight which was very nice.

Made a trip to one of our favorite wineries, Oak Ridge, to stock up on a 'few things'.

No photos on this stop.

It's time!!

Maybe past time.

Backyard this morning. Heard the Reno area got 6-7" overnight. It is pretty and we certainly need the moisture.

9 days and counting to heading out.

Topaz Lake, NV

Great extended campout with the Rolling Reno Elks group...36 Members attending.

Friday we had appetizers in the evening and Saturday a delicious dinner with a German theme celebrating October fest. Members brought various dishes to share from bratwurst with sauerkraut to German Chocolate cake.

This will probably be our last local trip before leaving next month for Casa Grande, AZ for the winter.

Will have new updates when we start out.

Eagle Lake - Merrill Campground

Flew back to Reno from Green Bay last Friday after spending time with family and friends at our granddaughter Ella's funeral. Miss her dearly and our thoughts of her will be with us forever. Prayers for parents, daughter Kimi and Ed.

Sunday we pulled up to Eagle Lake 14 miles north of Susanville to one of our favorite places to relax...Eagle Lake - Merrill Campground. We have many photos to view from previous visits. With kids back in school the park is pretty much open with except for some 'old folks' like us.

We head back to Reno Friday where we'll do a few local area short trips before heading to Casa Grande, AZ in mid November for the winter.

Prosser, WA

After a great stay in Gig Harbor we made a 4 hour run yesterday and are now at Wine Country RV Park in Prosser, WA. arriving just after 1pm. The cool temps of the Oregon coast are now hisory for this trip as we now are in the low 90's and get to crank up the A/C's.

Shortly after setting up we took Bailey to the vet to get her checked out for diarrhea with some blood. Vet's diagnosis is stress colitis (probably when we were gone for 8 hours on day trip to Seattle) and have meds and will be on a soft diet for awhile.

We did a wine tasting here at the Park last night and got some great info on the area from a couple we met. Tonight the 4 of us are going out for prime rib at one of their favorite restaurants here in Prosser.

Itinerary is changing a bit when we depart next Thursday.

Gig Harbor, WA

Yesterday we made a nice 2+ hour run up to the Seattle area and arrived at Gig Harbor RV Resort just after 1:00pm.

You would not think that being in a major metro area as Seattle/Tacoma is there would be an RV Park that is secluded in a forest of pines.

Great so far and are putting a list of places together we want to visit including taking the ferry out of Bremerton across the inlet to Seattle. Once arriving we'll visit the world famous Pikes Place Market, Space Needle, Ivars Fish Bar, take a Duck boat tour and whatever else we can.
