Friday Seafood Buffet Dinner and The Dwarf Car Museum

Yesterday 10 of us took about a 40 minute drive to Maricopa, AZ. for some new fun.

We had 2 main reasons, besides something new, for going;

1. The Seafood Buffet Diner at Harrah's Ak-Chin Casino. It was one of the best we've enjoyed and we have lots of casino's with diners/brunch's back home in Reno and many other places we've dined at.

2. Dwarf Car Museum

Stopped at the Dwarf Car Museum first and were not disappointed. Even if one wasn't a car buff you would appreciate  what they do. Check their website (link above) for some info. ALL parts are hand-crafted!!

Ernie Adams, originator of the dwarf car, has made a name for himself building Dwarf Race Cars and scaled down replicas of classic cars called Dwarf Car Cruisers. These handmade works of art now have a home in Maricopa, Arizona.

Here are some photos we took;

Lucienne, would this work for you? When you and Don come to visit we can go there if you want.

Ah yes!!! Reminded us of 'the song' performed at the Tumbleweed quite often by a few of the talented artists.

This beauty we remembered being in the November Car Show in Eloy near us...won an award and the trophy was so tall they couldn't get it to fit and it had to be transported back home in another vehicle.

And a boat to match!!

The next car in the works...think they said a '32. Will take about another 3 years for completion!!

Fun time and if you are ever in the area check both
Harrah's and The Dwarf Museum out.

2017 Christmas Decorations

We didn't bring our normal decorations along this year but Betty did manage to score a very nice wreath.

Janet, our new actvities director this year is doing an outstanding job putting the events together that offer all the people staying here a wide variety of fun things to do.

One is the monthly Craft Show and Janet found something from one of the many people displaying/selling their crafts she thought Betty should have. So....

Thanks Janet!!!

Hope everyone had a joyous Merry Christmas.

Christmas Brunch Update

Delicious as is the norm...they are so consistant at Francisco Grande. You can view the menu in our previous entry.

We ended up with 12 friends from our Park joining in on Christmas Day. Francisco Grande only puts on 4 of these Brunches during the year and we have made the Thanksgiving and Christmas ones the last 2 years after finding out about them. The other 2 are Easter and Mothers Day. We'll see about doing the Easter one in 2018 as we should still be here before heading back North.

Again great time and after we got back 'home' a few of the gals headed for the pool for some exercise.

Dick having some fun with the napkins
.

Gals back in the pool....Betty, Mary (full-timers w/husband Mike originally from Portland, OR)
and Toni (husband Dick from Appleton, WI.)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.
