Well we are on the move North towards Reno.

This morning we entered So Cal. and made the 4 hour trip from Yuma to Desert Hot Springs and the Catalina Spa & Resort. Very nice and with our Passport America membership are staying for 50% off the normal going rate. Passport has paid for itself a couple times over since joining.

Will be here for 2 nights and then will head up to Bakersfield and The Orange Grove RV Park

We plan on following HWY 99 on the way to Jackson and the Jackson Rancheria where we will watch the weather for a good day to over the hill on I-80 to Reno.

The Palms - Yuma, AZ

Sunday the 24th we made the 4 hour drive to Yuma and are at The Palms RV Resort

Very windy (on I-8 saw a Class A motor home along side the road with his main awning off and flapping in the wind) all the way but today the winds have subsided and temps in the 70's with sunny skies.

We leave tomorrow (Wednesday) for So. Cal and heading up towards the Palm Springs area...more on that later.

Lost Dutchman State Park - Apache Junction, AZ

Without Internet access it's been awhile since our last update but we are back online and here we go with the latest.

We left Tucson Sunday the 17th staying overnight in Mesa at Mesa Spirit RV Park before going into Lost Dutchman State Park on Monday the 18th.

WOW...just WOW!!! What a great site (#27) we had for the most spectacular place we have visited so far. Beautiful!! Waking up to snow one morning only added to the beauty.

Excuse us for all the photos, some that seem like doubles, but we just wanted to share what we experienced!!

Lost Dutchman State Park is located on the Apache Trail, State Route 88, north of Apache Junction. Highway 88 crosses the northwest portion of the Park, private land is on the south, and the Tonto National Forest on the north and east. The Park provides views and access to the most scenic portions of the legendary Superstition Mountains and maintains facilities to support the recreational activities. The famous tales of the Lost Dutchman Gold Mine are known throughout the world, with travelers from all over coming to seek the legend and experience the mystery. If not in search of the gold, they become entranced with the golden opportunities to experience the beautiful and rugged area known as the Superstition Wilderness accessible by trails from the Park.

Nothing else to say except if you are traveling like we are make this a must spot!

Pima Air Museum - Tucson, AZ

Weather starting to warm again and yesterday we toured the Pima Air Museum here in Tucson. Any aviation buff that visits the Tucson area will definitely want to make Pima a 'must' stop!!

We have included some photos from our visit to Pima.

About Pima Air Museum;

"The Museum opened in 1976 with 75 aircraft as part of the nation's bicentennial celebration by the Arizona Aerospace Foundation. Today, the 200-acre Pima Air & Space Museum exhibits 300 of the most important aircraft in the history of flight and 125,000 artifacts.

This size and diversity of the museum's collection is second only to the Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum collection. Aviation history is brought to life for visitors by museum volunteers who have first-hand knowledge about many of the planes on display. Additionally, museum visitors can actually touch many of the aircraft on display because there no barriers around them.

The museum attracts more than 150,000 local and international visitors annually. It has an aircraft restoration shop, volunteer and membership programs, and hosts student tours free of charge. The museum is the exclusive provider of docent led tours to the world's largest military aircraft storage facility at the Aerospace Maintenance Regeneration Group (AMARG) located on Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.

The Arizona Aviation Hall of Fame is located in the Dorothy Finley Space Gallery and offers museum visitors a unique opportunity to acquaint themselves with noteworthy Arizona aviators. Established by a joint proclamation of the Governor of Arizona, the Pima County Board of Supervisors and the City of Tucson in 1985, the Hall of Fame is a permanent shrine to Arizonans who have played a role in or made a significant contribution to aviation and aerospace history. Noteworthy honorees include: former United States Senator Barry Goldwater, astronaut Frank Borman and Doolittle Raider David "Davey" Jones."

Sunday we leave Tucson for Lost Dutchman State Park for 6 days and will have more updates as we travel in the Southwest.

Tucson II

Just a quick update from Lazy Days in Tucson;

George and Penney left Tuesday morning to head back to Reno. We had a great visit albeit short. Had a nice dinner Monday night in the Resort Restaurant where we said our goodbye's for this visit.

Have been exploring the area and will do some tours Pima Air Museum, Old Tucson Studios and the usual tourist sites.

We've never seen so many high end motor-homes in one place ever...and that includes the Oasis in Vegas. Most stay for 3 or 4 days and leave then the vacated site is occupied by another. On the flip side there is an Airstream rally going on here and there are 83 of those here.

Oh...the falcon in the one photo is right next door to us. Older lady traveling by herself has 2 of these birds. Whatever!!!!

Weather has been absolutely gorgeous...highs in the 70's lows in the 50's although a cooler period is on tap for the weekend. Headin' over to the pool and jacuzzi shortly.

Pups get a grooming tomorrow.

More later....

Tucson, AZ

Friday we loaded up and drove the short 65 miles to Tucson and Lazy Days RV Resort. Great place for being in a big city, we prefer the outlying areas though, with many amenities. Our very good friends, Penney and George, have been here since Tuesday and are in a site right across from ours. Weather has been sunny and in the 70's since we arrived but chance of rain today. Had a very nice dinner at our place last night, chicken breast on the grill, with great company.

Today, before we have our Super Bowl party, the girls are going to do some 'gem' shopping (George and I will get a few games of cribbage (Greg we are using a 3 person board) in before we pick them up to come home). The acclaimed Tucson Gem and Mineral Show™ is held every year on the second full weekend of February (starting with a Thursday). It has set the standard for gem and mineral shows around the world, and is now the largest gem and mineral show in the United States. The Show is open to the public and presents retail Dealers only. Proceeds from the Show remain in the Tucson economy and are used to support mineral knowledge and appreciation.

More later and hope everyone is fine.....
