Amado, AZ

After a short 2 hour drive we arrived in Amado, about half way between Tucson and Nogales, Mexico, at De Anza RV Resort Friday the 11th.

Beautiful country with views of the mountains. Located just south of Tucson / Green Valley and minutes from historic Tubac Village & Madera Canyon are hiking trails, ATV riding and world-class Birding.

The resort features a pet friendly environment that includes indoor heated salt-water pool/spa, exercise room, billiards room, TV/library, movies, card room, board games, shuffleboard courts, darts, bocce ball and horseshoe pit.

Betty plans on taking in a couple of Water Aerobics classes which are held every day at the indoor pool. Really need an indoor pool right now as temps at night have been in the high teens with highs only in the 40's. Supposed to warm back up in the 60's later this week.

Had a fish fry in their on site restaurant, Greyhound Room Restaurant & Patio, the night we got here and the place was packed...heard they served 168 people which includes locals who know how good it is here. Met a lot of Packer fans and some were having a get together in the TV room to watch the game last Saturday night. We decided to watch the game in the rig and with the bad game the Packers played glad we did.

Pups get a grooming Wednesday at a place right next door to the Resort.

Enjoying the heck out of traveling and seeing the country....really roughing it!!

Gold Canyon, AZ

Oh....forgot to mention we are in short sleeves and shorts...temp outside 84 with sunny skies and light winds.

Been awhile since we've updated so here we go.

Left Salome, AZ and the Black Rock RV Village on Jan. 4th. Great stay for Xmas and New Years albeit maybe a little to long of stay.

Arrived in Gold Canyon, AZ East of Phoenix and Apache Junction about 3PM on the same day after stopping at World Wide RV in Mesa for a little service...everything fine.

We are at the Arizonian RV Resort but knowing they do not have cable TV bit the bullet and now have Dish Network Satellite service using a portable dish called the Tailgater which automatically locks on to the satellites which really is easy and a time saver. Great HD picture but have to figure out how to get the bedroom TV working with it.

We've been taking day trips enjoying the Superstition Mountains and the beautiful desert scenery. Lots of stars at night and the coyotes howling close by at night let you know that you are not downtown camping.

Next stop: Friday we leave for Amado, AZ. and the De Anza RV Resort.

Quartzsite, AZ

Since arriving at Salome and the Black Rock RV Village we've made a couple trips back the 11 miles to Quartzsite for groceries and just bumming around.

Quartzsite is a popular RV camping area for winter visitors, and tourism is the major contributor to Quartzsite's economy. Nine major gem, mineral, and 15 general swap meet shows are very popular tourist attractions, attracting about 1.5 million people annually, mostly in January and February.

Pretty quite right now but things will get busy next month.

Salome/Brenda, AZ

Made the short 1 hour trip from Parker to Black Rock RV Village in Salome/Brenda, AZ arriving around noon. We changed time zones...now in Mountain Standard Time.

Great campground and temps were right where we wanted them....low 80's but cooler expected for Christmas...60's. We'll be here for Xmas and New Years.

Christmas Day Update...lounging this morning and getting ready for some good eats. Betty already made waffles for breakfast and looking for some cold shrimp and cocktail sauce the Cornish hens, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, home made bread in the bread machine with a little Vanilla Bean ice cream for later.

More later....Happy Holidays everyone!!

Parker, AZ

Left Vegas late Thursday morning for the 3 hour drive to Parker, AZ.

Staying at the Blue Water RV Park and Casino recommended by some friends on the Jayco Forums who winter here. Very nice campground and great area along the Colorado River.

Next stop for Christmas and New Years...Black Rock RV Park in Salome/Brenda AZ.

Las Vegas, NV

Left this morning at 8am and arrived in Las Vegas and the Oasis RV Park which is a beautiful property, around 2pm. No issues along the way except getting the rig dirty going through the Fernley area, before Hawthorne, which got some snow the night before and the roads were sloppy. Took care of that today having a Mobile RV Wash & Wax visit us on site and both the Truck and 5th wheel look like new.

Did not do much after arriving in Vegas...just settling in.

Betty is adapting quite well, I might say, with her retirement and is starting to enjoy as she knows she does not have to be back to work in 2 days...we are finally 'tripping'.

Getting ready to put some steaks on the BBQ but will post again soon. We leave Thursday for Parker AZ before arriving in Brenda (Salome AZ) this Saturday for Xmas & New Years.

Happy Holidays everyone.
